Now, this came as a real surprise to me as I've heard of rare demos by this band floating around, but never actually got a hold of any myself. This band features the awesome vocalist Matti Alfonzetti (ex-Jagged Edge, Roachpowder, Skintrade), who released two good albums with Jagged Edge, if anyone remembers them? This album is actually 10 years old and the band was on the verge of a breakthrough signing to a big label, which due to a good portion of bad luck, never happened. Now, 10 years later, the debut album of this defunct band is finally here.

Bam Bam Boys offer a fine mix of hard rock and more AOR-oriented songs, in the tradition of other great Swedish acts. You can hear influences of band such as Whitesnake, Journey and Swedish acts such as Easy Action. The soulful mid-ranged voice of Matti Alfonzetti is, as always, superb backed up with some good guitar work by Gøran Elmquist as well as the very present bass and keys. Actually, the production and mix is surprisingly good and has no problem contesting with the sound of other of today's AOR releases. For the most part the vocal-lines and choruses are very good and should appeal to all fans of hard rock and AOR. Although I find some songs a bit uninspired and lacking good melody-lines the overall impression is positive. Songs like "Let Me Touch Your Skin" and "Heart To Heart" are simply flat out killer songs and there are more to be found on this CD, which makes this worth getting.

If you are a fan or AOR, hard rock or what we call Scandi-rock then this is a CD to put on your want list. There are plenty of songs to enjoy.
