Reviewed by: John "Bo Bo" Bollenberg, May 2001 When their debut Diary Of A Blind Angel was released, the united press had a lot of criticism regarding the voice of Alexis D'Este. The man is still no Pavarotti but it should be said that he has taken the criticism seriously, which results in a far better vocal performance on this Welcome To The Moonlight Circus. The music remains focused on metal with a fair amount of keyboards. Guitar player Paolo Viani sparkles on both electric and acoustic guitars. The intro to "The Wayfarer" is one that can put Al Di Meola on his pension. Unique is certainly an English version of Italian "sound-a-likes" Le Orme entitled "Glance Towards The Sky." Because of the Black Jester influences this version stands a long way from the original which illustrates the craftmanship of the band. New keyboard player Nico Odorico displays his skills during "Consciousness Hymn," a piece ranging between classical and new age with lots of strings and church choir. It's the only tranquil song amidst the "harder" stuff with which Black Jester proves to be working on a very own sound. Recently (within the last 1-2 years) the band changed their name to Moonlight Circus and released an album called Outskirts Of Reality with a new vocalist. -ed.] More about Welcome To The Moonlight Circus: Track Listing: The Labyrinth (5:53) / Mirrors Song (8:46) / The Wayfarer (5:30) / Glance Towards The Sky (4:55) / Consciousness Hymn (4:08) / Symphonies Of Immortal Winds (6:04) / Welcome To The Moonlight Circus (11:27) Musicians: Contact: Website: welcome.to/moonlightcircus/ Discography
