Reviewed by: Keith "Muzikman" Hannaleck, September 2002 Terry Bozzio is always involved in musical projects that bring outstanding conceptual brilliance to his art and those around him. This CD being no exception, he joins forces with dynamic bass player Billy Sheehan to form a literal progressive rock dynamic duo. I was ultimately disappointed with this project however. The title Nine Short Films hits the mark though. The entire recording sounds like it could easily be a soundtrack to a Wes Craven horror film. Bozzio sings in his demonic dark spoken word toned style throughout the length of this CD. That aspect of the album quickly became a constant agitation for me. The musicianship is absolutely sparkling, which comes as no surprise, considering the caliber of each artist. Bozzio is a drummer primarily, and one of the best in the world. I only wish he had kept this an all-instrumental album, it would have been glorious. If you can separate the music from the vocals, you will survive this with pleasure. I for one could not. I have loved everything that these two men have done until now. I believe there is an audience for this; I am just not part of it.
