Reviewed by: John "Bo Bo" Bollenberg, May 2001 Album fronted by the Italian Peter Hammill: Alessandro Seravalle. "Horizon Of Events" begins with some weird lyrics backed by a very aggressive guitar and drum wall-of-sound. In fact drummer Camillo Colleluori fits the bill perfectly as he remains progressive in the true sense of the word whilst he plays in the best grunge-like tradition. This guy could even be a member of Pearl Jam! Weird sounds fill "W8less" another dark story in which murder once again is the topic of the day. Biting synths fill this song full of aggression and hate. "Noia" then again is virtually classical what with the subtle use of grand piano making this a standout track. Typically Italian humour or ignorance? Fact is that you can read the name of the author underneath two ... instrumentals! They’ll do anything they can to be original these Italians! From waltzlike structures in "Le Chateau Fou" down to funky patterns in "All The Best Years," Garden Wall has created its best album with this magnificent, unpredictable masterpiece. The energy which is contained on this disc reflects the musical power of this band : recommended for all lovers of real complex music.
