I never realized what a circus atmosphere Hawkwind created with their live shows until I watched this DVD of Classic Rock Legends: Hawkwind. I mean that in a literal sense. They have dancers and fire-eaters on stage while they are playing! Their music is very intense and complex, and anyone that appreciates progressive rock or space rock will be delighted with this DVD.

I heard “Night Of The Hawk” recently on the Classic Rock Legends DVD and was I floored. I am veracious prog-rock enthusiast and experiencing the prog-space rock of the great band Hawkwind is something special.

Based on the previous experiences I have had with music DVDs, this is a short presentation. Eight tracks were not enough for me, and that is a compliment to the band. I enjoyed every single song offered. The artwork on the cover of the DVD case is superb and befitting the group’s music. Those of you into science fiction artwork will zoom right in on the cover, I sure did.

The special features are, one, just highlights of other DVDs that the label sells, and two, scene selections; to consider it as a bonus would be incorrect, as most DVDs have these options as a matter of course. Some interviews with the band would have been interesting as a bonus feature.

When you get down to the bottom dollar, this is a great show and that is all that matters. Do not miss this it is a killer presentation of one the best rock bands in the world.

Rating: 4/5
