Warmth In The Wilderness Part II - A Tribute To Jason Becker is a continuation of the successful first volume, which gathered some of the best shredders on the planet to pay tribute to the legend of Becker's guitar playing. There isn't just shredding going here, oh no, this is an eclectic mix of metal, progressive and straight ahead rock music that is an unusual find on a two-disc set (besides the first volume). Lion Music has made their mark with this tribute series to one of the most memorable masters of the electric six-string.

Although these CDs feature primarily instrumentals, a complete rock experience is available for your enjoyment. Tracks with vocals, such as the lead off track on disc one "Desert Island," will delight even hardcore progressive-instrumental listeners. Becker created a majority of his work in the ?80s and thus you will notice that era of metal is an influence in the approach and sound throughout these tracks. That atmosphere does not predominate however; there is just enough of that persuasion to remind you of when Jason was a healthy young man in his prime before a debilitating disease called ALS struck him down. Like a true warrior of life, he has decided to beat all the odds and he continues to recover, even though modern medicine said his chance for prolonged survival and recovering were unlikely. He remains hopeful that someday he will once again strap on his guitar and create music for us. I think with our continued support and faith combined with more stirring tributes like this, Jason will continue to defy all scientific logic and carry on being the wonder of humanity that he is. One listen to these CDs is enough convincing that music can be an inspirational healer.

There is so much great music on this set, it would take a ridiculous amount of time to write about it all and be respectful and fair to everyone that contributed to the project. I can only say this: Every song has a quality and energy that captures the spirit of Becker's music. That should be enough information for you to seek out this volume of excellent progressive metal music.
