Life In The Balance immediately made me think of Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam once Chris Nicoletti's vocals kicked in on their new release Scream. I think his voice is excellent. Making a comparison to an artist of that caliber is a huge compliment. They have also been compared to the Dave Matthews Band, which I could also hear, particularly with the melodic jangling acoustic guitars dominating each track.

Upon first listen you may think LITB has a homogenized sound, each song an extension of the previous, however if you listen again you may discover some things about their music. Personally, I always listen to an album more than once before I make any kind of assessment (I am human and I do get distracted) and for some reason I seem to pay more attention the second time around, particularly if I really like the music, like this album. Without fail, a more intent listen will reveal intricate aspects of the music as a rule not heard on the first spin (for the general listener), so do yourself a favor and give this CD several spins before passing any judgment. Once you hear it, you will certainly want to hear it again.

LITB pumps out vigorous bursts of appealing and catchy rock and pop blended with an absolute alternative slant ("Faded" is killer). Chris Nicoletti (lead vocals/guitar), Matt Mueller (backup vocals/bass) and Dan Roveto (drums/percussion) are an intoxicating trio with a pop sensibility far beyond their years and experience. After hearing the structure and never ending melody in each song, I would be willing to bet that everyone in this band is a Beatles fan.

Just like an artisan wielding his tool, each band member plays their part well and is in perfect sync with the other. The result of this clear-cut process is an album that defines consistency and excellence throughout. Buyer beware! This is addictive stuff!
