Scott Finch is back hitting it harder and faster than ever before with rockin' blues licks that will get your booty shakin' and those bones rattlin' like never before on Gods And Freaks. This guy rocks! He keeps topping himself with every new release he puts out. This time we have two CDs to enjoy with five videos of Finch and his band showing everyone how to do it on stage. This comes as no surprise to me; I expected nothing but a five star release from this group of fine musicians. They do it all in the tradition of the power trios like the Hendrix Experience and Cream, and its hard, fast and biting blues-rock that will chill you to the bone. I am not exaggerating?this material smokes. Peter Alt, a great bass player and vocalist, sounds like a combination of James Dewar (former Robin Trower lead vocalist/bassist) and Hendrix, and drummer Greg Slavik completes the circle to form a powerful blend of aggressive blues-rock, they all compliment each other perfectly. I especially enjoyed the videos, as it was my first opportunity to enjoy this band visually. "Let It Snow" was a nice personal note for Scott. The tape goes back and forth from him playing the song while sitting at his house and running around with his dog in the snow. Only someone like Finch could take a Holiday classic like that and make it rock, and on an acoustic to boot!

There is 15 rousing tracks on the first disc then some incredible covers on the second, like the Beatles "I Want You," which is a phenomenal instrumental track featuring some blistering licks. In addition to all that, there are the videos, a colorful fold out cardboard case with a booklet, lyrics to the songs and some great photos of Scott and the band. This is the complete package and it is all quality, every aspect. My hat goes off again to Comet Records for doing a top rate job for a first rate musician and one special human being, Scott Finch. It is due time for this man to receive the recognition and attention that his contemporaries do, he deserves it. If you do not believe me, just listen to his music, it tells the story.
