[Mini-review posted by Larry to the Perpetual Motion board in July 1999. -ed.]

If you didn't like the gritty vocal style of Mystic Places, or didn't like the new singer on Vision Eden or its less than great production, but you knew that the band was very good and wondered about their first disc, Why Now, it could possibly be their best effort if that makes sense.

The singer is singing in a clean, melodic voice; the songs are more melodic, and the overall feel is a bit heavier. At any rate, it's worth owning just for the melodic power metal aspect - it's worthy enough to be in any collection, although again, it will fall shy of the newest Voice release, or even the Angel Dust - Bleed release, but this is a solid release and a definite contender for a place in a melodic power metal lovers collection. This one could have the best production of the 3 discs, although if memory serves me, Mystic Places was well produced... if you're in search of some excellent melodic power metal discs, get these 2 right after Voice and Bleed, you won't be disappointed...
