Inside Genesis - 1975-1980: An Independent Critical Review is a splendid overview of the phenomena of the British rock group Genesis. From the art-rock days of Peter Gabriel to the meteoric rise of drummer Phil Collins to a leading front man and eventual solo superstar, this DVD covers it all, including extracts of performances from the tracks "Dance On A Volcano," "Deep In The Motherlode," "Follow You Follow Me," "Dukes End" and more. There are also some nice bonus features with longtime guitar man Steve Hackett performing "Please Don't Touch" and "In The Quiet Earth," which is described on the back of the DVD cover, as "What Genesis would have sounded like if Hackett had remained in the band."

Most of the contributing critics agree that Duke was the pivotal album for the band and the exorcising of Peter Gabriel's ghost. From that point forward, the development of the band and the ongoing changes that eventually lead to Phil Collins leaving for his solo career, get an in depth overview with commentary from band members as well.

Genesis has consistently been one of my favorite bands over the years and personally, I enjoyed them much more after Gabriel left. I think that the band members had a new sense of creative freedom once his exit was final, and that proved to be true on subsequent albums. This is an excellent documentary highly recommended for all prog-rock and Genesis fans.
