Empty Tremor impressed both the press and fans of prog metal mainly because of a great debut album, but in many ways also due to their sensationally low age. After a solo album released by keysman Daniele Liverani, the Italians return with a new album.

As the guys have gotten older they have without doubt grown as individual musicians and a band as a whole. The sound of the new album seems more mature, although the music genre is pretty much the same, melodic prog metal with strong clear vocals. Yeah, you read correct. Vocalist Giovanni De Luigi has improved quite a bit since the debut and his performance on Eros And Thanatos is absolutely credible.

People into DT's Images And Words need to pay attention, as this is right up your alley. Musically this is more varied than the debut, it's more complex, more dramatic and the instrumentation is fantastic. They run through heavy parts, spectacular instrumental passages and beautiful balladry, always keeping it melodic. Overall the songs are of great quality, from beginning to end. On top of that, the production is good and all instruments are present.

This album holds all the reasons why I got into prog metal in the first place. Eros And Thanatos is elementary for all fans of prog metal and will go down as one of the best prog metal CDs this year. Essential!
