Digital Ruin was one of the new promising acts to arise from the prog metal underground in 1997. Their debut CD Listen was pretty good and besides the obvious talent of the band, they showed an interesting musical approach.

Their second CD has been in the works for a while and the release has been delayed a couple of times. Now, finally, in the year 2000 and with a new label, their second CD is released. To me, Digital Ruin has taken a huge step in the right direction. This is fresh and unique prog metal. It's heavy and crunchy, the melodies are more accessible with tons of melody, yet being complex, dark and atmospheric. The dark, mystic, atmosphere of this CD is haunting and simply unique. The mid-to-high pitched vocals are very good, filled with emotional commitment and soul. The heavy and crunchy guitars is the driving force of their sound, backed up by some cool and original keyboard work. Also, if you listen carefully you will notice samples and electronical sounds, cleverly mixed into the music. Practically everything about this CD is better than the debut. The songs are much stronger and more accessible. The music, songwriting, lyrics and arrangements are much better and more consistent. This CD reflects a very talented and unique band still in development.

Fans of original, intelligent prog metal with strong melodies all way through the CD will go nuts over this one. This is sensationally good!
