While Haze's brand of progressive is in the same mold as Pendragon, IQ, et al, there is a touch of folk/country rock to it in at least one track. "Fallen Leaves," for example, could easily have been recorded by the Byrds or Crosby, Stills, and Nash. And then the half minute snipet "Humbug" could very well be an Emerson, Lake and Palmer outtake.

So, while they share much with their "neo-prog" brethren, these really are only moments - a keyboard phrase here, a guitar lick there. If you like the other bands mentioned, you will like this.

[Why so brief? Well, when I wrote it, it was part of a section called Quick Takes... The McMahons later became World Turtle, after one of their album titles, and released a CD of reworked Haze compositions (that would have been a 3rd album), World Turtle pieces, and re-recorded Haze tracks for Haze. And they're still very active, especially Chris McMahon (whose also a member of Treebeard and Von Daniken...) -ed.]
