Zen Rock And Roll - End Of The Age

Zen Rock And Roll is one of the latest releases from the new label Progrock Records, a label that publishes almost all prog stuff.

The sound has an old style mark because it follows in prog genre of the Seventies, with long suites, fantastic texts, and lots of instrumental sections. Also some instruments are taken from that period, like the mellotron, which is used a lot on End Of The Age.

This music is perfect for the old prog fans, but sometimes it isn't original and also it's nervous, even if it has some evident qualities.

Interesting melodies, great improvisations, and Jon Saunders' voice are the highlights of this record.

I believe a negative point is some of the synth sections that are too long, so they become almost boring. However, even if the music has influences from the bands of the past, the sound is very modern, and convincing and involving at the same time.

Thus the final result is positive. Waiting for more original works, Zen Rock And Roll is one of the most interesting new prog entities.
