Khavas Jute - Wide Open

You see before you the only album that Khavas Jute would ever make. And it was a fine one indeed. Wide Open has been considered an underground progressive rock classic by many fans and critics alike.

Dennis Wilson's (not the Beach Boy) vocals are a dead ringer for Eric Clapton's while he was with Cream. The music found on side one of the LP is more straight forward rock, while side two offers more progressive rock and spatter of the blues.

The LP's sound is a 9 on a scale of 10, which makes your listening experience that much more lively and electrifying. Their crowning glory is the track "Parade Of Fools," which is the best example of their authoritative sound. It closes the album out with a flourish of varied instrumentation and stellar lead vocals.

This group may have lacked for content because this was the only album they ever made, but they made sure that this was a superior effort that would leave an impression. They succeeded in impressing my scrutinizing ears in more ways than one. I can understand why this was worth repacking, remastering, and circulating once again. Comet Records has uncovered yet another lost jewel of prog-rock history. The LP is housed in stunning gatefold sleeves with eye catching period artwork on the cover and black and white photos of the band inside.

It's now time to add another gem to your treasure chest of missing musical links.
