The Ramones were primal punk rock at its very best. Although I realize that what they played was punk I prefer to call their music plain and simple good rock 'n' roll. Right at the height of their powers King Biscuit was there again to capture history in the making in 1978 at the Palladium in NYC.

This music, advertised as recorded in "Total Ear" Stereo Sound, is exactly what it says it is. Twenty-seven glorious head bangin' Ramones tracks are blasted straight attcha, ready to rip your senses to shreds, now does that sound great or what? That is what they did best, whether it was on one of their many classic studio albums or live. I never saw them live, judging from what I heard they played non-stop. High-energy entertainment was the name of the game for this band.

Yes, the Ramones knew how to rock hard and fast and this CD is proof positive that they were the progenitors of a genre that influenced new generations of punk rockers for years to come. Sadly, everyone reaped the benefits of their musical genius but the Ramones. Dee Dee is gone now and so is Joey. In the ironic fate of the music business, the originator of the music dies penniless and someone else makes the millions, it is a story that has played out since the first recording artist walked into a studio and sold their music. It is somber to think about all of this but there is a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. The music is what stands tall no matter what; it has plenty of juice left so turn it up and I guarantee a smile from ear to ear will be stuck on your face from start to finish.

My favorites always were "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker," Blitzkrieg Bop," "Do You Wanna To Dance?" and "Suzy Is A Headbanger." Who else played songs like this? Their sense of humor, although sometimes dark, was their greatest tool and the music made those feelings come to life in way like nobody else could duplicate. It is time to bop and rockaway your day, slap this disc in your stereo system and all your troubles will melt away.
