This is the second CD by Swedish melodic metal band Majestic. I totally loved the energy of debut Abstract Symphony so I had high hopes for this one as well. With the change of several band-members comes a slight change of style as well. This time around they have gone for a more progressive style, although the neo-classical melodic metal style of Majestic is well maintained. The new guitarist is absolutely superb, pulling off some really huge crunchy riffs, as well as some blistering solos. The new mid-ranged vocalist is really good as well.

The songs are rather varied in style this time around. What first hit me was that some of these songs has a HUGE Symphony X resemblance, almost identical in style. Only the keyboard-sound seems to be a bit different. Other tracks move in to Artension territory. Long instrumental passages, following dual solos by guitars and keys, etc. And some songs move on to more straight melodic metal grooves ala Malmsteen and Talisman. The musicianship is absolutely fantastic, although some might find it to be a bit over the top. The songs are all very good and I don't think there is one single weak track here. They are all blessed with great melody lines and choruses. Although I don't have a problem with originality as long as the performance and songs are of this high standard, some might find the lack of originality a problem. Well, that's your loss. I don't care as long as the songs are done as convincing as this. The production is again very good!

People that are looking for something new or original, steer clear of this CD. Fans of bands like Symphony X, Artension, Malmsteen, Talisman - get this CD right away! This is another prime example of the quality and potential that lies within Majestic and Swedish metal in general.
