Ten - Babylon

Year of Release: 2000
Label: Frontiers
Catalog Number: FRCD 046
Format: CD
Total Time: 58:43:00

Babylon is Ten's fifth studio album, and this album marks the return to the sound of their two first CDs. Babylon is a concept album and it also introduces Don Airey of Rainbow, Ozzy, Whitesnake and Gary Moore fame on keys.

Not much to say about this release really other than if you like Ten or melodic heavy or AOR this CD is definitely a must and will most likely go down as one of the best releases of the genre this year. It features all the classic Ten trademarks - Gary Hughes' characteristic songwriting, big guitars and hooks, wonderful melody-lines, harmonies and choruses. Gary Hughes once again proves what a great songwriter he is and he does as great job on vox as well.

The CD balances between heavy rockers, smooth AOR songs and tear jerking ballads. Both the strong production and songs come close to the sound of the two first albums, and adding Airey's haunting keys, this album is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Fans of heavy aor/melodic heavy must get this immediately.
