Ruminations - June 26, 2008
by Stephanie Sollow

Just a few days back from NEARfest - thus the relative silence here in terms of news and other updates. In short - Fish, Koenji Hyakkei, Liquid Tension Experiment, Morglbl, Echolyn and Banco rocked. Not a bad ratio of 10 artists - of course, given that Larry Fast and Peter Hammill were not about rock, lets say 6 of 8. RMI rocked a little, but as they're more space rock, some it relatively mellow (compared to LTE who smoked!) ... not really rockin'. That leaves Discipline, who were good (and Parmenter has a fabulous voice), but they didn't really rock out all. Ah, but I'll have fuller report in the Live Review section.

Meanwhile you can entertain (or amuse) yourselves with the photos I took... not all the pics I took, by the way, which may suggest I'm shutter happy, I don't know. Just looking for the shot I guess. Anway, if you click Gallery, that'll take you there.

Some other quick thoughts... been listening to Fish's 13 Star, and my thought upon hearing the very first track was "the Fish I remember is back." Though I have to admit that I've not really heard Fellini Days or Field of Crows yet (they did get a spin on the flight to Philly last week. Odd to think a week ago today we were just arriving at our hotel... my how time flies

So.... nothing too deep at present... no epiphany waiting to spring forth....
