UK progressive metallers Threshold have been confirmed for the first edition of a new UK festival called Metalfest which will take place September 25-27, 2009 at JB's in Dudley. Also scheduled to appear are Swallow The Sun and Xandria.

Threshold has launched an official YouTube channel with high-quality videos, including professionally shot live footage of "Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams" and an exclusive live acoustic version of "Ground Control." The channel also includes Threshold's official videos for "Innocent," "Pressure" and "Pilot In The Sky Of Dreams," as well as live footage from the band's 2003 Critical Energy DVD.

Threshold recently headlined the 10th ProgPower Europe festival in Holland, marking its third appearance at the European edition of the worldwide ProgPower event. The band's drummer, Johanne James, performed despite recently dislocating his shoulder in a sporting accident.

In related news, Karl Groom will participate in a reunion tour with Shadowland - yes, the band is going out on tour again for the first time in over twelve years. The band have announced a run of European dates in 2009 to coincide with a 'best of' compilation. Shadowland are:

Clive Nolan (Pendragon, Caamora, Arena, Neo) - vocals/piano
Karl Groom (Threshold, Strangers on a Train) - guitar
Mike Varty (Script for a Jester?s Tour, Credo) - keyboards
Mark Westwood (Caamora, Neo) - bass/acoustic
Nick Harradence (NW10) - drums

The 'best of' album will be called A Matter Of Perspective, featuring their favourite tracks from the three previously released (but now unavailable) albums, and also boasting some brand new material. This CD (over 70 minutes of music) will be available from February 2009. During the tour, Shadowland will also film a DVD (which will be called Edge Of Night) for release later in 2009. The tour dates announced so far are:

13 Feb 2009: Riffs, Swindon, UK
15 Feb 2009: Pub Rock Cafe, Bielsko-Biala, Poland
16 Feb 2009: Wyspianski Theatre, Katowice, Poland
20 Feb 2009: Spirit of 66, Verviers, Belgium
21 Feb 2009: De Boerderij, Zoetermeer, Holland
22 Feb 2009: Die Halle, Frankfurt, Germany

And Threshold vocalist Damien Wilson is offering free solo album downloads. He is making his full solo catalogue available for free download at damian-wilson.com. The tracks are available in wav & mp3 format with an option to donate money through the site.

The tracks will only be available for a limited period, and all money donated will go towards future recordings.

Damian commented: "My concern is not enough people are getting to hear the music. So I am asking that you download, enjoy the music and spread the word."
