CD/DVD Releases: Latest Galahad News Includes Expanded 10th Anniv Edition Of Year Zero

Stu of Galahad writes, "In what has been the busiest year ever for Galahad in terms of releases we just thought we'd update on even more band activity... before having a bit of a rest!

Year Zero - 10th Anniversary Expanded Edition: In conjunction with our good friends at Oskar Productions and after being out of print for a couple of years we have re-released our 2002 album in re-mastered and expanded form:

Press Release

2012 has been a very busy year for Galahad having released TWO new studio albums (Battle Scars and Beyond The Realms Of Euphoria) as well as a live CD/DVD (Whitchurch 92/93 – Live Archives Vol. 2). 2012 is also the Tenth anniversary of the release of their Year Zero album which is available once again, after a long absence, re-mastered and expanded in a brand new digi pack format.

Year Zero is actually a loose concept album performed as one piece of continuous music and is the most instrumentally oriented album Galahad has recorded. However the music was split in to fifteen separate sections in order to make it more CD and 'download' friendly!

As you would expect with a Galahad release, Year Zero contains a myriad of styles including classical, baroque and Jazz interludes, a heavy psychedelic section incorporating techno beats and industrial grooves as well as the usual nods to traditional prog and heavy rock punctuated by some quieter, more sensitive passages before the album reaches a grand, rousing choral crescendo to finish.

As well as the core band members, including the late and much missed Neil Pepper, Year Zero also features performances from the Cantori Catholic Choir, Sarah Bolter on woodwind and backing vocals as well as John Wetton (UK, Asia, King Crimson) on guest lead vocals, who even momentarily re-visits a classic Asia refrain, albeit in an extremely subliminal fashion!

This expanded edition also contains a rare live performance of Year Zero taken directly from the desk of a Galahad show at Mr Kyps in Poole in October 2002.

Whilst Year Zero is quite different from subsequent Galahad releases it is equally as valid and shows a band still evolving and experimenting to great effect with a range of musical and lyrical ideas. Year Zero is a must for all Galahad aficionados but should also be of interest to those wishing to explore the Galahad back catalogue further as the album is, in our opinion, an often overlooked gem from the early noughties!

So sit down, relax, turn up the hi-fi, close your eyes and let Year Zero take you an extraordinary musical journey.....

Beyond The Realms Of Euphoria

Beyond The Realms Of Euphoria is now officially released and available in CD and download format from our website and will shortly be released on 180gram vinyl as an LP plus 12” single, all wrapped in a rather beautiful gatefold cover. Pre-orders can now be made directly from our official web site www.galahadonline.com.

The album is also now available from all the usual online stores i.e. I-Tunes, Amazon, CD Baby, Play.com etc. although as we always say, we’d prefer people to order directly from the band as it cuts out the middle men and benefits us directly!

Battle Scars

Battle Scars is now available from our Bandcamp site for download and physical orders.

Live Shows

We have now played a few live shows with Mark Spencer, from Twelfth Night, on bass and occasional guitar duties. All the shows seem to have gone down very well with the audiences and the band is really beginning to play very well now, plus our late dear friend and longest serving bass player Neil Pepper is still with us in a big way as we are playing live to his bass lines on two of his songs from Battle Scars during our current set.

[Part of the press release included inof on the inaugural Proguphoria Festival, which passed us by reporting-wise (and attending-wise). That was scheduled for October 20 with The Cryptic Clues, The Paul Menel Band, Alan Reed also on the bill. It was held at Mr. Kyps.]

One remaining date this year:

Saturday 24th November 2012 - Danfest 2 at The Musician, Leicester, England with Also Eden, Konchordat, The Gift and two others TBA.

If you can support us at any of our shows we would really appreciate it.

Hopefully more shows will be organised for 2013…SO BRING IT ON...

And finally...

We would just like to sat a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2012 in whichever way i.e. by spreading the Galahad gospel, by buying our albums, by reviewing and writing about our albums, in fact anything positive anyone has done for us, we are so appreciative as it’s you who give us the strength and will to keep going and make it all worthwhile it despite all the "brick walls" and difficulties we encounter along the way. We are forever grateful and in the words of that behemoth of rock AC/DC...

WE SALUTE YOU...

We reviewed Year Zero in the year 2003; read John Stout's review and read Stephanie Sollow's review -ed.
