UK post-metal five-piece, Echoes, embarked on a quest upon forming in 2010 to create a sound that is entirely true to themselves; now in 2014 they have realized their vision with a body of work that is expansive, gritty, heavy and emotionally complex. The debut album The Pursuit is the result of years of experimentation and tweaking in both the live and studio settings, and marks the mile stone of a very exciting time for this young band as they prepare to take their sound to the masses.

We don’t know if “Atmospheric Hardcore" is a genre yet, but that’s how we are describing this exciting new band. Citing influences from fellow UK group, Devil Sold His Soul, to German film composer, Hans Zimmer, Echoes entwine the atmospheric fundamentals and intelligent arrangements of post rock with a metallic sheen to create their wholly epic sound. The album progresses as a journey of varying intensity and a multitude of feelings, but despite it reaching extremes of heart wrenching angst and despair, there is an underlying message of positivity. Drummer Oliver Todd explains:

"We are positive people, and we want the record to be a reflection of that. The songs may sound negative and emotional, but the message always has a flip-side, and we think you can tell that from the lyrics. Collectively, The Pursuit is about being the best you can be, no matter what life throws at you. It is a journey of personal development and how we grow as people for the better."

A relentless DIY touring machine, Echoes have travelled the UK and Europe countless times, developing a loyal fan base along the way. They now hope to continue that success in America by partnering up with US label, Universal Warning which will release their debut on July 22, 2014.

The Pursuit is truly a unique mash up where hardcore meets shoegaze, creating a fresh sound and vision that easily separates Echoes from other compounded derivative based sub-genres that have plagued music for the past 15+ years.
