Houston?s Scale The Summit, the prog instrumentalists whose sophomore album Carving Desert Canyons arrives in stores on Feb. 17, are featured in the April issue of Guitar World as well as the accompanying CD-ROM, on which guitarists Chris Letchford and Travis Levrier unveil the secrets behind the "tapping section" of the album track "The Great Plains." To celebrate the impending release of the new album and the coverage in Guitar World, that song has now been added to the band's MySpace page, www.myspace.com/scalethesummit.

The magazine, which hits newsstands this week, describes Carving Desert Canyons ? the band's Prosthetic Records' debut ? as "full of tightly woven guitar interplay, irregular time signatures and tasteful licks." Other early reviews point to the inventiveness this young band has brought to not only progressive hard rock, but to instrumental music in general. Decibel?s Adem Tepedelen commented, "I?m getting wood just thinking what the tablature for this album must look like," while MetalSucks said Carving Desert Canyons "will elevate Scale the Summit to the level of serious prog-metal contenders."

Over the past three months, the band has released behind-the-scenes videos from their recording sessions with producer Tom Beaujour at New Jersey?s Nuthouse Recording. The third of these videos can now be seen here: vimeo.com/3166098.
