UK progressive metallers Threshold are currently in the final stages of putting together a new fan club release. The album is a collection of rarities but will be rather different from previous releases.

"It's far and away the most interesting fan club album we've put together" enthused Richard West. "Sonically and visually this should be a very special package." The album title and full track list has not been revealed yet, but Richard previously gave some hints in an interview with Rock Realms: "It includes one or two unreleased songs nobody outside the band knew existed. Over the years there?s been stuff that never got past the demo stage for one reason or another, so we?ve gone back to the studio to complete some of those works. It?s a bit like having new bonus tracks for old albums. So we?ve had Damian back in the studio and also our old vocalist Glynn Morgan who I hadn?t seen for years."

Vocalist Damian Wilson's contributions include a couple of tracks from before the band was signed. "Conceal The Face" is well known to Threshold fans as it's been made available in both demo and acoustic formats, but this is the first time the Midson/Jeary song has been released with Damian on vocals as it would have sounded on Wounded Land. The second is a Groom/Jeary track called "Shifting Sands," a song which as Karl Groom recalls "used to be played live at the time of the gigs played at The Compasses in Egham as the band formed," but has never before been officially released.

Glynn Morgan put down new vocals for two tracks on the album. The first is "Fist Of Tongues," a track originally put forward by Glynn for the Psychedelicatessen album. Sonically it's reminiscent of "Will To Give," a track by Glynn which made it onto that album, although "Fist Of Tongues" is a heavier song overall. The second is "Half Way Home," a rock ballad by Richard more in the vein of "Change" or "Sunrise On Mars." "It was too mellow for what Threshold was doing at the time so I never thought of putting it forward." I always thought Glynn would sound great singing it though," commented West.

More details of the tracks will be announced soon. The album is expected to be released at the beginning of October.

Threshold will tour Europe in October / November supported by Serenity and Spheric Universe Experience. The tour will be presented by Rock Hard, Rock It and Eclipsed magazines and is shaping up as follows:
