For The Dark Side Of The Moon

North American syndicated Rock radio show "InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History’s Greatest Rock Bands" celebrates the release of Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon Immersion six disc box set with interviews from David Gilmour, Nick Mason and former member and band co-founder Roger Waters. As one of rock's true classic albums, the original DSOTM spent a record 741 weeks on the Billboard Top 200 chart between 1973-1988, selling an estimated 45 million records worldwide, ranking it 3rd on the all-time best seller list. While discussing the iconic Pink Floyd album on which he wrote all of the lyrics, Roger Waters remarked to show producer and host Redbeard that the contentious social and political climate that Americans and British find themselves in presently is not unlike the times in which he composed Dark Side Of The Moon.

“It’s interesting that the Archbishop of York, as reported on the front page of the London Times, has finally come to the conclusion that what’s largely creating the problems that we face socially in England is the fact that our politics foster a competitive society where we encourage our children to believe in a dog-eat-dog philosophy and then wonder why they commit crimes and grow up rather unhappy."

"It is the great question that needs unraveling," Waters continues emphatically. "What lies in the gap between the high ideals enshrined and embodied in the American Constitution and the reality of life in the United States? What is in that chasm? We need to find out what it is and somehow bridge it."

"InTheStudio" can be heard on over 50 radio stations across North America. "Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon-Immersion/InTheStudio" program will air this weekend (Sept 24/25).
