Gadi Caplan is a talented Israeli guitarist and composer based out of Boston, Massachusetts.

Caplan is a diverse musician, originally trained as a classical pianist, who switched to guitar at the age of 13 and developed a passion for rock and blues. This passion took him on many journeys throughout the years, such as India in 2004- 2005 where he studied traditional Indian music and sitar, New York City in 2006 where he joined various rock bands, and finally, Boston in 2007, where he studied jazz, fusion and funk along with composition at the Berklee College of Music. Upon arrival in Boston, Caplan started collaborating with different singers, jazz bands and rock bands, and formed his own band in 2008. All of these different elements of Caplan’s musical interests and influences are fused together brilliantly on his debut album Opposite Views which is the result of 3 years of writing, arranging, recording and mixing and was released in January 2011.

The opening track "Harmony Police" is an all-out prog jam that features virtuoso performances from Caplan and from fellow Israeli musician Eyal Hai on alto saxophone; after their fiery duel, Caplan and Hai pass the torch to Canadian pianist Michael Hurwitz for a beautiful Motown-style keyboard solo. The incredibly tight rhythm section consists of New Jersey-born drummer Alex Santiago and Taiwanese bassist Wei-Chi Chang. The album continues on its crescendo and decrescendo path with "Euphoric Moment," followed by "Nocturnal Adventure" which features another Jersey boy, singer Patrick McConnell. The song adds one more color to this musical kaleidoscope and segues into "Feels Like Morning" for some rocking solos and a climactic ending that fades out to bring in a melodic and extremely touching ballad "Boni," featuring violinist Duncan Wickel. Caplan's acoustic guitar playing, Indian influence and composition skills are blended perfectly on "Rita's Garden" and on the title track "Opposite Views" where the listener is taken on a journey from the Himalayas to the symphony hall. Akiko Ito adds a breathy, Asian sound on bass flute; a gorgeous contrast to the dramatic string arrangement performed by Japanese Violinist Yuki Nakajima, American Violist Rosie Sumter and Israeli cellist Yoni Draiblate.

All over the world, fans and music critics alike have received Opposite Views with enthusiasm. Upon release, the album has gotten wonderful reviews from various magazines, webzines and blogs and has been played by many radio stations from Boston and New York to Texas and California, and as far as England, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Israel. Gadi Caplan’s band continues to perform on the East Coast to a growing audience of enthusiastic fans.

PRESS: "Gadi's debut record, contains instrumental (except for 1 song) music that is best described as a mix between Progressive and Jazz-Rock, so Fusion. The album sounds very laid-back and is without a doubt a perfect album to put on during long cold dark winter nights as background music. 7 songs are included and especially the lengthy first 2 tracks ('Harmony Police' and 'Opposite Views') are very strong."
