Because I found it intriguing, I gave a listen to the single "Moon Eclipsed The Sun" from Evolfo. I share the link below, but here's my impression -- positive, obviously, or I would have moved on to the next press release -- : it's slinky, warm and seductive... hypnotic in the sense that you might go in a straight-laced, uptight goody-two-shoes and emerge a day or two later wondering what strange trip you were just on... It is not, however, anything like the Grateful Dead... And perhaps I was unduly influenced by the start of the press release itself: "What began as a basement party band in the pits of Allston, MA in 2011 exists today as the Brooklyn garage-soul group Evolfo. From a bubbling mixture of rock, psychedelia, and a touch of spaghetti western drama, this insurgent group has emerged."

You can hear for yourself, here: soundcloud.com/evolfo/moon-eclipsed-the-sun This heady track is from their EP Last Of The Acid Cowboys, which is due out September 16. "[...I]t's the first of two in the EP collection, Golden Curses, which will be released as a whole on the cassette tape (yes, we said cassette) record label, King Pizza Records." Yes, they really did say cassette. I think they're making a comeback... And I shake visions of lava lamps, shag carpet, and amber lighting illuminating and caressing blissed-out twenty-somethings...
