Topic: General News

"We were all gobsmacked once we heard that the people behind the RockFM radio station decided to pull the plug as of 15th October. Fact is, the owners of the station tried to get hold of another seven frequencies to launch a new concept. Sadly politics in Belgium shoved their file in the dustbin so they ended up with nothing," writes John "Bobo" Bollenberg, whose On The Rocks radio show was broadcast on the station. "Sad and angry they then decided they would nevertheless go ahead with at least one frequency so they told RockFM was closing down so they could at least start with their new idea. RockFM has to make way for Zen Radio which is aimed towards lovers of lounge and chill out music. So what happens the many listeners of On The Rocks, the weekly three hour prog extravaganza as produced and presented by Bobo? Of course when a complete station disappears it means all programmes are obliged to call it quits as well.

"However On The Rocks continues every sunday between 8 and 11 pm cet on Laser Radio which can be reached through www.laserradio.nl. Laser is an internet only station which is way ahead of it's time. The people behind the station are now looking if they can offer a free podcast service for the On The Rocks shows. So all in all On The Rocks continues and to celebrate things in style the new 'album of the week' will be 'What we have sown' the brand new album by The Pineapple Thief which still has to come back from the pressing plant. So be the first to hear the new material on ... ON THE ROCKS this coming Sunday, October 14th between 8 and 11 pm cet on www.laserradio.nl!
