CD/DVD Releases: Dirk Serries Releases Three New Titles
Posted by nightowl on Sunday, May 24 @ 22:00:00 PDT (41 reads)
    Album Release News

From Dirk Serries' newsletter: "Serries' second album Disorientation Flow on Projekt is a suitable follow-up to his warm and welcoming 2014 release, The Origin Reversal. More than a critically-acclaimed re-boot of his classic vidnaObmana sound, this is ambient music that flows from its discreet origins of sonic purity, washes of harmony, and languid textures. Unfurling with seductive deliberation and orchestrated with just a handful of effects and electric guitar, this album is again fully improvised and recorded in real-time.

CD/DVD Releases: Musea's May Music Missives
Posted by nightowl on Sunday, May 24 @ 22:10:00 PDT (34 reads)
    Album Release News

The marvelous month of May is almost over, but in casting our eyes to the month that was, here are the multitude of music releases that Musea Records made available this month - either their own releases or distributions from others.

This roundup begins with Astrovoyager - ElectrOpera - Act 04 - Oscillations: Bio: Astrovoyager, also known as Philippe Fagnoni, is always searching for new musical and sonic sensations. Coming from Metz, the French keyboards player endeavors to compose, in a very personal style, original themes between soundtracks and relaxation music. His art relates as much to the great masters of the genre like Vangelis or Jean-Michel Jarre, as to the most renowned soundtracks composers, such as Hans Zimmer, Eric Serra... Astrovoyager uses synthesizers and electronic keyboards to develop music mixing electronic and cosmic tracks with symphonic layers. To avoid the traps of common electronic music, he develops real melodies, alternating dreamlike climates and chiseled rhythmic patterns.

CD/DVD Releases: Mandala "Midnight Twilight" Released May 5
Posted by nightowl on Friday, May 22 @ 22:00:00 PDT (31 reads)
Album Release News Mandala Midnight Twilight - folk mixed with prog, wrapped in an early-70s glow‏

In 1997, in the south east of London (or, more precisely, the north east of Surrey), three seventeen year-olds did the unthinkable. Amidst the ruins of Brit pop and the smouldering ashes of grunge, they went to a performing arts college and created... a progressive rock band, firmly routed in the early seventies. Truly, far out!

Mandala was formed by Rhys Marsh, Francis Booth and Will Spurling. Their plan was to create music that represented all things analogue, specifically their love of valves, vinyl and VU metres. They wore flares and large-collared shirts with pride, quickly becoming one of the most talked about bands in the college - making regular appearances in the weekly foyer concerts, TV shows and end of year productions.
