    Artist News: The Custodian Sign With The Laser's Edge

    The Custodian, the U.K.'s newest and most exciting progressive rock band, will release its debut album, Necessary Wasted Time, on June 18 via The Laser's Edge.

    The band is lead by British musician Richard Thomson, better known as the vocalist of progressive metal group Xerath. The project was initially started in a bedroom in Warwickshire and has now, after several years of lying dormant due to other commitments, become a fully fledged band ready to take the prog rock world by storm.

    Mike Portnoy To Play Drums On Forthcoming New Album

    InsideOut Music is immensely pleased to announce the signing of progressive-rock powerhouse Bigelf for the release of their forthcoming new album later this year. Label-head Thomas Waber says about the signing: "We have been talking to Bigelf for quite some time now and I am really pleased that we finally managed to make this happen! Bigelf are an excellent addition to the InsideOut Music roster!"

This week, it's Kotebel who shared: "Our album Concerto For Piano And Electric Ensemble has been nominated for Best Instrumental Album in the 12th edition of the Independent Music Awards. It is the only progressive rock album nominated in this edition. There is a special public award, based on the votes from fans.     Echo Us is nominated among an eclectic mix of established artists and artists on the rise including Ben Kweller, Band Of Skulls, Bright Eyes, Langhorne Slim & The Law, Omar Sosa, Killer Mike, Paper Lions, Sarah Cheng-De Winne and The Congregation, among many other deserving artists whose recordings were released during the 12th IMA program eligibility period.

    Set To Enter Studio In April For New Album

    The wait is over, and one of the premier bands of the American progressive metal movement is back! Fates Warning are proud to announce that they will enter the studio in April to begin tracking on a new studio album - their first album of new material in nine years, and their first studio release for InsideOut Music.

    The U.S. run will launch November 15 in Joliet, IL and wrap December 14 in Seattle, WA. The band's 11th studio album is set for a fall release, and will feature founding guitarist Jim Matheos, classic lineup members Ray Alder (vocals) and Frank Aresti (guitars), longtime bassist Joey Vera and drummer Bobby Jarzombek.

    Legendary British progressive metal maestros Threshold proclaim the MARCH of progress!     Although Sandy hit a couple of months ago, and this announcement from InsideOut Music dates from a month ago (reaching our inbox November 26), I'm certain it's still very much relevant, and since this is the season of giving....

    American rock act Jolly suffered severely from hurricane Sandy in New York. Jolly has been working on recording their second studio album Audio Guide To Happiness, Part II, but hurricane Sandy completely destroyed the band's rehearsal room and drummer Louis Abramson's studio. All of the band's equipment was ruined by the massive flooding of the enormous storm.

    Past and present members of Frost*, Pain of Salvation, Threshold, Darkwater and the Neal Morse Band join forces in the new band Alpha Flood.

    The idea for this band originated in the mind of Dec Burke, former vocalist and guitar player of Frost* and Darwin’s Radio. "I had the desire to form a band that would combine modern progressive rock and metal elements with more song-oriented music," Dec Burke explains. "And when time and opportunity presented itself to work with some world class musicians that I have respected and admired for many years, I went all in."
