This Italian prog metal band was formed back in 1996. The band was later joined by singer Giancarlo Mattei, whom some of you might remember from the band Abighor. This 3-song demo was recorded in mid-99.

Proloud play classic Italian prog metal, similarities can be drawn to bands like Arkhe, Zen and Crotalo, etc. On the other hand, what separates these bands is that Proloud is perhaps the one with most originality. The DT influence is not as present here as on the abovementioned bands. Still, you got high pitched vocals, accessible melody-lines, present keys and good staccato guitars, cool breaks and technical runs. The songs are well written and with lots of variation. From heavy parts to more mellow, moody and atmospheric parts, to jazzy tech stuff. Still, the songs work out great!

Maybe some might have problems with the high pitched vocals, but I think the vocalist does a decent job. The production is OK, being a demo and all, although I'd love to hear these songs with a proper production. Proloud is without doubt one of the most interesting new prog metal bands to rise into the new millennium. If they keep writing songs of this quality, they will sign a deal very soon, that's for sure. They are definitely a talented group of musicians. Let the music speak for itself. There are lots of impressive moments on this disc. Fans of melodic prog metal should take note of this band as I'm sure this will not be the last we hear from them. Their future is bright!
