Symphorce - Sinctuary

Year of Release: 2001

Total Time: 60:09:00

Symphorce's debut was a good album, mostly due to Andy B. Franck's (ex-Ivanhoe) vocals. Now Andy, who also sang on the brilliant new Brainstorm CD, is back with Symphorce's second album.

This album follows the same direction as the debut, only that Sinctuary is even more powerful and perhaps slightly darker. The Symphorce sound from the debut is still very present. You've got heavy and powerful guitars, Andy's fantastic soaring vocals and choruses to die for. This is power metal supreme! The songs are heavy and will probably appeal more to fans of Brainstorm than Ivanhoe, although the signature Andy B. Franck choruses will probably appeal to fans of both bands. There are of course progressive tendencies, but overall this must be considered power metal. Despite the heaviness, this is utterly melodic, both verses and especially the choruses. It is the huge choruses that make this so accessible and appealing. There are several killer songs to be found. On top of that the production by Achim K?hler (Primal Fear, Sinner, Silent Force) is very good, which makes this release hard to resist.

The album is very even and has great songs from beginning to end. Fans of power metal with emphasis on crushing riffs, superb vocals and huge melodic choruses will love this CD. Highly recommended!
