Seventh Wonder - Seventh Wonder

Formed from the ashes of demo band Mankind comes this new Swedish progressive metal band Seventh Wonder. This is their first demo that includes four tracks of some of the finest melodic prog metal. Fans of Swedish metal might find it interesting that bassist Andreas Blomqvist is taking private lessons from bassist-extraordinaire Marcel Jacob (Malmsteen, Talisman), while guitarist Johan Liefvendahl takes lessons from Pontus Norgren (Talisman, Great King Rat).

Think Vanden Plas, Queensryche, Savatage and of course the inevitable Dream Theater and you know what to expect. You got excellent keys, crunchy guitars and strong mid-ranged vocals with complex instrumental passages and accessible melody-lines. What more can you ask for?

It took a few listens to get into these songs, but once you do, you realise that this stuff is better than many prog metal releases these days. Unfortunately, there are only four songs to show and I am quite curious to see if they can keep up this quality for a full release. While the sound is decent for a demo, I can't stop thinking what this would sound like with a more proper production. I hope to find that out someday. I am positive that if they keep writing songs of this calibre, they should get a deal in the near future. Keep up the good work guys!
