And here we go again with Sweden spitting out another quality band. Seems the Swedes have an infinite potential when it comes to bringing forth great new bands and that fact never ceases to amaze me. Firstly, Token features members from other well known bands such as Scuderio, Damned Nation, Fatal Smile and Radioactive.

Token play melodic metal or to be more precise, heavy AOR. The music emphasizes huge catchy guitars, pumping keys, and good mid-ranged vocals. There are even some progressive elements thrown in which makes their music even more interesting listening to. I am very impressed by their blend of typical Scandinavian AOR with heavier, more progressive elements. The musicianship and songwriting is top notch and it is hard to pick out favourites due to the general high quality throughout the whole disc. Although most songs are rockers, they have also made room for a couple of nice ballads which altogether balances the album perfectly. Personally, I prefer the heavier tracks like the haunting "Shine On," the staccato riff led "Destination Nowhere," "Someone's Watching," and the opener "How Does It Feel." On top, the production by guitarist Johan Sjöberg is solid and well balanced.

Token's debut album is an impressive slice of Scandinavian AOR heaven. Fans of bands like Scuderio, Treat, Damned Nation, or Talk of the Town should pick this up immediately.
