Every guitar player known or unknown has a "secret" agenda, a musical search within them to try new areas, new boundaries, measuring their talent, their instrument! But hey, let's stick to the known guitar players. When super guitar players like Martin Barr? (Jethro Tull) and other great band front figures have been working with their respective band for a longer (or shorter) period, they all long for some outlet via their chosen instrument, and often that let-out is somewhat different in style and choice than that of said band!! Here we have Alan Morse (Spock's Beard), excellent guitar player, who with this outing has an entirely different approach and style than that of Spock's. Alan Morse's solo album is quite jazzy and theme laden music!

Actually it is jazz/fusion themes with splendid guitar soli! So as pointed out, very far from the band he originally comes from! Now don't get me wrong, this album is fine! Just don't expect any Spock's tones or sentiments, even though most of the Spock's boys are evident on this CD!

Alan Morse's solo, also boasts some other excellent guest musicians including brother Neal. So all's good and well!!

The thing is, you've heard it all before on: Ritenour, Carlton, Haycock and many other great fusion guitarists' albums!! Sorry Alan, but it's the truth, at least from my point of view!! Not that there is anything wrong with the music, the performance, the delivery ... it's just, well boring I guess!

Ok.. ok, this being a prog site, I have a somewhat limited ear to said genre; still, I was expecting something more, something more excitable or different!?

On a final note, Alan Morse is a brilliant guitar player, but this album does nothing for me, sorry!!

I do not want to be rude, but dear Alan, please stay with Spock's Beard, the band, the style, the approach!!

But, hey that's just me, others might find this album enjoyable!!

Rating? Well, it's not that high, sorry!!
