Odyssea - Tears In Floods

Born thanks to Labyrinth guitarist Pier Gonella, Odyssea is a new Italian power prog metal band; and it is almost the usual Italian power band, except two reasons: the quality of the guitar playing of Pier Gonella and the addition of some programming.

Gonella's style is more or less a mix of Satriani, Malmsteen, and V. Moore, able sometimes to give some prog and fusion flavours. Moreover, the sound of the album has a space metal groove thanks to the mentioned programming.

Apart from those considerations and some quiet sections, the music is the classic power prog that we are used to listening to.

The guest appearance of Rob Tiranti has to be mentioned because of his great voice. Sadly he appears only on the track "Fly."

A good release, but we'll wait for a more convincing sophomore album.
