Danger Danger - The Return Of The Great Guildersleeves

Year of Release: 2000
Label: MTM Records
Catalog Number: 0681-08
Format: CD
Total Time: 52:04:00

This is the third album to feature Paul Laine on vocals and follows up the successful Four The Hard Way, which saw the band back on track after the disappointing Dawn album [Dawn was great - Gary].

As expected, Danger Danger offers a healthy dose of quality melodic rock continuing the style from the last album. Opener "Grind" sets the standard immediately with great catchy hooks and a memorable chorus. Laine's mid-ranged, slightly hoarse voice sound better than ever, the rhythm section and the thick powerful guitars are full of energy and leaves promise for the songs to come. Great stuff! And the band doesn't let us down. They seem to have found a winning formula here, although there are slight variations in style from song to song. Some of these songs are without doubt the heaviest songs they have ever made. They have also made room for some superb AOR rockers like "When She's Good She's Good," 'She's Gone" and "I Do." Brilliant!

To me, this album only proves what I have always known, that these talented guys are one of the best melodic heavy/hard rock bands out there. Besides the lyrics, they sound more mature and serious, more daring, bringing new elements, sounds and emotions to their songs, yet sounding ever confident at what they do. The production is very good, tight and with depth, which only enriches the final overall impression.

Danger Danger has made an impressive CD chock full of quality songs. No need to hesitate. If you like hard rock/melodic heavy with soul and energy, this CD should most likely be just what you are looking for! A must!
