Hoelderlin can be seen as one of the legends of German progressive rock. Based around the virtuosity of keyboard player Joachim Grumbkow, guitarist Pablo Weeber and violin player Christoph "Nops" Noppeney, Hoelderlin recorded this live album on 24th and 25th October 1977 (released in 1978). Nine lengthy tracks which show the band's approach to symphonic rock with some spacey journeys intertwined. Most of the material comes from their studio album Clowns And Clouds which apart from putting both violin and guitar in the forefront also introduced some great organ and mellotron. Although influences from Krautrockbands such as Jane, Novalis, Gröbschnitt, Kraan and Birth Control are apparent, this album will appeal to everyone who's into Curved Air, Gentle Giant , Eddie Jobson and UK.
