Total Time: 55:37:00Wow. The flow of Italian prog metal bands is never-ending it seems. And the quality of the releases this year is sensational. Bands like Khali, Empty Tremor, N8, Xteria, Stramonio have all released wonderful albums, and now Madsword join the ranks. Some might remember their debut album some years back entitled Evolution, which proved a lot of talent, but didn't quite come through. Now, it's year 2000 and the tables have turned. With a new singer and a new keyboardist the band return with The Global Village, which proves to be one of the best prog metal releases so far this year.
Their sound is more varied this time, from heavy, complex structures to mellow, atmospheric parts. The crisp acoustic guitars and keys contribute to the atmospheric feeling of the disc, along with the fantastic mid ranged vocals of Andrea Bedin. The melody lines are really melodic and accessible and are miles ahead the stuff on the debut CD. The songwriting and arrangements seems very well worked through and the production is absolutely amazing. So is the instrumentation. Everything about this disc impresses me. Although some parts of a couple of songs don't do much for me, the material offered here are absolutely stunning and unique sounding.
Fans of Italian prog metal must get this CD NOW! The Global Village comes highly recommended!
