Spain is steeped in medieval history. With its share of castles, ancient walls and tradition of art and music, it would only be a matter of time before the grip of melodic/power/prog metal would overtake the masses and forge a new dynasty.

For the rest of the world, the time is now to become aware of the massive metal scene that exists in Spain. In a country whose people never stopped enjoying progressive and hard rock music, the nineties have seen the maturation of many many bands that rock with the best of them. Tierra Santa is one of the top bands in the game.

Tierra Santa released their first album Medieval in 1998, a self-produced album that was followed in April 1999, by Legendario. Over the years, the band's recordings and song writing improved to a level where improvement is no longer necessary. There's speed, there's classical influences, sweeping ballads, and full blown epic power riffs.

Sangre De Reyes is their fourth studio album and was recorded in Sonido XXI Studios (Navarra). The band sings in Spanish and - like many metal bands - uses medieval history as the context to many of their songs. But the lyrics are intelligent and passionate as is their music.

The sound is brilliant. A thick, rich bass sound pounds through the wall of guitars and keys and the drums are scattered from speaker to speaker. If you love power metal with the classical/folk influences that are seen in bands like Elvenking, Rhapsody, Stratovarius and to a lessor degree Iron Maiden, you'll love Tierra Santa.
