Black Sabbath - Never Say Die!

Never Say Die is one of the final performances for Black Sabbath's original lineup. For that reason, this DVD is a real keeper. All of that aside, I must say I was a little disappointed in the performance of Ozzy Osbourne during this concert. On the newer songs (at the time), his voice is rough and strained and on the older material taken from the first three albums, Black Sabbath, Paranoid and Master Of Reality, he sounds like the vintage Ozzy I always loved to hear.

?Rock And Roll Doctor? reminded of how much I enjoyed playing the Technical Ecstasy album. I feel that it is one of their most underrated and discarded recordings. I would encourage any fan of Ozzy or Black Sabbath to check out that album if you have not yet. It is also the only album that drummer Bill Ward sings lead vocals on a song.

This was good but I would recommend getting The Black Sabbath Story Vol. 1 & 2 before you pick this one up. At first I thought that I should advise this DVD for diehard fans only but I think most people will enjoy it, lousy Ozzy vocals and all. After all, Tony, Geezer and Bill still rocked hard and the memory of them onstage before they broke up is forever preserved now and for any Sabbath fan I suppose that is reason enough to have this.
