K2 is the project guided by Ken Jaquess (Atlantis), a brilliant bass and keyboard player, with the help of top class performers such as Allan Holdsworth on guitar, Ryo Okumoto on synths and moog, and the late Shawn Guerin on vocals, who passed away only a few months after the recording of the album. It took a couple of years to see this album published, but it was worth the wait.

The disc is a neo-prog oriented work, with the brilliant Gabriel-like voice of Shawn Guerin and the usual style of Allan Holdsworth's electric guitar making this album so precious and listenable to every progressive music fan. The opus is a concept based on the Egyptian Book Of The Dead and also the artwork shows clearly these ideas.

As partly said before, Book Of The Dead can be linked to Genesis' music but with more modern production and conceptual vision. The melodic vocal lines are catchy too, so it's not too hard to get involved instantly in this very good side project.

Rating: 4/5
