Kingcrow started in 1996, then under the name Earth Shaker, as an Iron Maiden influenced band, playing classic heavy metal, but started later on to experiment with progressive elements. They have released two demos so far and in early 2003 they released their third demo, Matzmariels. The band consists of Diego and Manuel Cafolla (respectively guitar and drums), who are also the founding members. Matteo Trinei on bass and Mauro Gelsomini (ex-Windseeker) on vocals. The line-up was completed with a second guitarist, Ivan Nastasi (ex-Sanitarium). Currently they are working on a full length album, that should be released at the end of 2003.

The demo has three tracks. The opening song "Father To Son," starts with some percussion, followed by fast guitar riffs and various mood changes. Although there is no keyboardist mentioned, I do seem to hear some keyboards in this song. "Lies" has a nice guitar arrangement, but again ends in fast riffs. This song has some Rush/early Queensrÿche influences and this song is the only one who will make it to the album. The last song, "Echoes Of Hope," is a ballad, with acoustic guitar and passionate vocals.

Although I have the feeling these guys can play well, the album does not listen pleasantly. The mix and production are terrible! I have no idea where they recorded this demo, but they should work on this! I'm not even going to start what is wrong, as everything is. We can only hope the album will be much better than this.
