NovAct publish their first album under the American label Sensory records, after having played at both Progpower and Headway Festivals.

First thing to declare is that NovAct is one of the best acts from The Netherlands, even if their music isn't quite simple to denominate Prog Metal. In fact, the style is more oriented towards the metal side instead of the prog influence.

Every song has an heavy approach and from time to time the sound has some changes, preferring the more melodic side of metal, so the music is quite catchy and it isn't difficult to listen to.

An important help that gives the band something more is the great voice of the singer Eddy Borremans, whose deep tone is something almost unique in this range of music.

The only gap that the band has is the keyboards that usually don't fit in this kind of music.

Anyway, also thanks to the optimum artwork Tales From The Soul is a very good album that will appeal to a wide range of metal fans.

Rating: 4.5/5
