The new project of ex-Landberk and ex-Morte Macabre members Stefan Dimle and Reine Fiske once again bathes in a sea of Mellotron whilst also the jazz aspect is making a big entrance. The five compositions that adorn this rather short album all contain a certain dose of healthy improvisation that is or isn't grafted upon the pure traditional progressive spirit of the seventies. With Björk, David Bowie, Tortoise and Bo Hansson as returning references, the mermaid vocals of Petronella Nettermalm nestles itself like the runaway sister from an early Hooverphonic (= Belgian's number one band) during the intimate atmospheres of "Hypnotique." It's as if a modest version of Massive Attack blends together with a newborn Saint-Etienne in order to create a brand new soundscape. The intimate framework has its highlights during "T&eacte;a," where all of the instruments complement each other in a very economical way whilst the piano is used as a contrapoint for the fragile vocals. Towards the end, all storm brakes loose, stirred up once again by the mighty Mellotron sound. Without snare the drums add even more to the intimate atmosphere of "They Are Beautiful," which due to the use of organ and clarinet sounds like a perfect backdrop for autumn scenes. The long final track "Quits" is a whipped up, up-tempo song which ends in pure jazz by means of an authentic saxophone, trombone, trumpet strait-jacket. Impressive debut, enthralling and innovative throughout and contrary to the album's title ... Timeless!
