Reviewed by: John "Bo Bo" Bollenberg, October 2000 In the domain of re-issues, our Scottish boys from Pallas have released two albums in one go (the other being The Wedge). Both of these titles not only include extra tracks, they also include a multimedia segment. The Sentinel is Pallas' very first album originally released on the legendary Harvest label and produced by none other than Eddie Offord. Released way back in 1984, this album illustrates the marriage between Marillion, IQ and It Bites. So they certainly left behind the more complex arrangements from the seventies, whilst especially in the domain of rhythm, the band has opted to use more radio-friendly rhythms without too many breaks. My favourite on this album certainly has to be the superb symfo of "Ark of Infinity" featuring loads of keyboards and that superb droning sound of the Rickenbacker. In the multimedia segment you can find the original sleeve design by Patick Woodroffe next to about ten live photos and rare footage of part of the "Atlantis Suite" as performed in the Hammersmith Odeon in 1982.
