Reviewed by: Keith "Muzikman" Hannaleck, September 2001 Have you been looking for a musical experience that defines perfectionism, bringing out every instrument as clear as a bell, including every nuance in a song? Classic Records has an awesome high-end audio process that will catch any audiophile's ear. The recording process is an exacting and scrutinizing transfer of analog to digital, using a master tape recorded from a live microphone feed. The sound is just extraordinary. Just when you thought you have heard the best possible sound, another process is created. This is a pristine perfected musical transfer. Classic Records chooses only the best releases from an artists' catalog to commit to disc. This label will help you to forget Mobile Fidelity in a heartbeat. After toiling in the studio as an engineer, making classic rock and roll albums for the Beatles and Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons decided to create his own studio band. Lyricist and songwriter Eric Wolfson joined him, along with other studio musicians, and The Alan Parsons Project was born. Their second, and now classic release was I Robot. The futuristic title track starts with a slow entrance gradually introducing layered synthesizers, then it reaches a crescendo, and kicks into high gear, getting you ready for "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You," which was a big hit when this album was first released in 1977. "Breakdown" is my favorite, and the bass sounds just incredible. This album came on the wings of "Tales of Mystery and Imagination," which was released two years earlier. Each succeeding track builds upon the Orwellian storyline, with great music as a backdrop. There were to be many more successful concept albums in the future for Parson's and his ever evolving and revolving session musicians. I went out and bought a DVD player specifically to hear all of this wonderful music from Classic Records. Watching movies never really entered the picture... well, maybe later. This is going to be the only way to record music for all artists very soon. The future holds tremendous promise for the entertainment industry in all aspects of audio and visual. It's an exciting time to be alive.
