Reviewed by: Davide Guidone, February 2004 This self-titled disc is the first work from the Swedish prog band, Ritual, published by the French label Musea in 1995. Now, thanks to Tempus Fugit*, the album has been reissued with a more complete booklet and has been remastered. For those of you who appreciated Think Like A Mountain and didn’t listen to this one, you will surely like this release, because has the same peculiarities and a more fresh approach in the songwriting. A particular style prog rock with an important folk influence and catchy refrains. The band grabs the best sides of the great groups of the Seventies like Yes and Gentle Giant and then rearranges these elements with their own taste, following the roots of its country. Patrick Lundström’s voice fits perfectly to this kind of style, even better than on the last two Kaipa albums, where, however, he does amazing work. The track I enjoyed the most was "Solitary Man," with a great piano melody on it. Let me know what you think of it!
