This Primosfera by Stereokimono is the first release from Immaginifica Records, a label owned by Franz Di Cioccio, drummer and vocalist from PFM

This group, who have published their second release, is a trio with a very particular sound such that it is hard delineate their style. We can say it is prog, in that it is progressive in terms of being a new kind of music, but without any specific reference to either the old or the new (i.e., neither classic prog nor modern prog).

It’s an instrumental release where one can find a lot interesting music. With guitar as main instrument, the keyboards have an ambient-like function or a psychedelic taste. The music feels the influence of King Crimson sometimes, and the amazing bass lines are in a Tony Levin style. King Crimson of the Eighties, mostly.

There is a strange track on this album: the ghost track. Why? Because you can find many samples of the most successful prog songs of the Seventies. It’s a nice challenge to identify them all.

If you like instrumental and experimental music, this is for you.

Rating: 4/5
