Duncan Glenday's Top 20 2004:

Davide Guidone's Top 10 2004:

    (no particular order)
  • Mind Key - Journey Of A Rough Diamond
  • Proto-kaw - Before Became After
A very well received come back from the first nucleus of Kansas. Even if the largest part of the songs is 30 years old, every piece has an astonishing freshness in a mix of neoprog, pomp rock, fusion and jazzy atmospheres.
  • Threshold - Subsurface
After Critical Mass a great album for the English prog metal giants. A wise mixture of guitars and keyboards, due to a wonderful production, plus an amazing songwriting, makes this album a little milestone in the Threshold discography. Intelligent lyrics and the best artwork in my opinion.
  • Sylvan - X-rayed
Sylvan show how it can be possible to alternate neoprog elements with some harder and newer music styles. The band introduce to us a wide range of music. Never a dull moment!
  • Vision Divine - Stream Of Consciousness
  • DGM - Misplaced
A much power prog oriented album for the Italian band DGM, with some hard rock tunes. A band that finally has reached an own identity and a very personal sound. A must for all the fans of the genre.
  • Izz - Ampersand
A great confirmation for Izz, after the very interesting I Move. A compilation of previously unreleased material, but showing a cohesive structure. Catchy and complex at the same time.
  • Chain - Chain.exe
In the prog world, Henning Pauly is a little genius, that's for sure. He comes back with his group and presents a very different album from Frameshift and Reconstruct. A Heavy, complicated, challenging release with an its own sound. Excellent.
  • Pain Of Salvation - Be
And speaking of challlenging performance, here it is the new opus by POS. it represents what prog music should be: innovative. This phrase doesn't need any other word.
  • Moongarden - Round Midnight

3 Best DVDs

  • IQ - Twentieth Anniversary Show
An immense double dvd in a stylish digipack, showing a perfect performance from the best neoprog band, perhaps. Every progressive music fan should buy it, I assure it.
  • Threshold - Critical Energy
An high quality standard DVD, from the technique to the track list and the extras. A must for the prog metal listeners.
  • Neal Morse - Testimony Live
The DVD that testimony(ehehe) the tour of the best album of 2003.

Eric Porter's Top 9 2004:

Stephanie Sollow's (Preliminary) Top 10 2004 - updated 5/23/06:

Seems I never got around to doing a top ten of 2004... well, here's three that have made this list...

Joshua Turner's Top 10 2004:

Honorable Mentions:

Sorry if I missed a band or artist that deserved mention. There was so much good music last year, it's almost impossible to track them all.
